Flights from Doncaster to Katowice
Katowice lies in the south of Poland at the heart of one of the largest conurbations in Europe. It has many parks, squares and music venues and is surrounded by forests and hills. Its architecture is mainly Renaissance and there are numerous Art Nouveau buildings of note. The main tourist area is centred around the Market Square and surrounding streets. There are several churches, a cathedral, museums, galleries, theatres and an abundance of bars and clubs as well as the giant communist-era Spodek multi-purpose arena which stages large events throughout the year. The city is also one of Poland's most important business centres. Poland's second city, Krakow, is close enough to transfer from Katowice airport as an alternative.
The airport is 30km north of the city centre. Local buses cost around 8PLN. The airport buses that run direct to the city cost around 25PLN. Taxis are around 125-150PLN. There is currently no train service although one is planned.
